H.O.P.E. Centre Wellness Fair

QLNB was happy to bring a reading corner at the H.O.P.E. Centre Wellness Fair this weekend.

The Centre at 4347 Loch Lomond Road offers a multi-purpose facility housing a licensed pre-school, wellness centre, community police office, and City of Saint John Leisure Services staff; as well as a large meeting room that serves parish and community activities.

This weekend provided for a meet and greet for residents and H.O.P.E. Centre staff and partners, along with a variety of displays and activities complemented by refreshments and entertainment.

The name "H.O.P.E." stands for health, opportunity, pastoral and education.  St. Joseph's works to deepen the sacramental life of the parish through social service and ministry.  Sponsorship support for the event came from the Saint John Airport.

Wrapping Up the 2014 'Old North End' Storytent

We have come to the end of another Storytent season.  Our 2014 ONE Storytent ran on most Saturdays from June 8 through September 7 in Saint John's Old North End.  We delivered 12 tents (with a 13th rained out by Tropical Storm Arthur).  We had 144 visits from children and 30 adults visits; some reading and some borrowing books to read at home.

We would like to say 'Thank You' to our partners: the Nick Nicolle Centre (ONE) and the Saint John Free Public Library.

Storytent receives funding support from area MLA,
the Hon. Trevor Holder, Minister of Minister Tourism, Heritage and Culture.

And a special thanks for the funding we received from the Province of New Brunswick, the Literacy Coalition of NB / PGI Fund, and the Saint John Free Pubic Library.

Now is the time for painting wagons, sorting books and preparing for 2015's Storytent.
